Fuse Raises £1 million to Scale Rapid Point-of-Need Molecular Testing Platform
Fuse has today announced it has raised £1 million to accelerate commercialisation of its proprietary Flip™ product platform and expand manufacturing capabilities at its headquarters in Cambridge, UK. The fundraise was led by The FSE Group and joined by existing angel investors alongside new angel investors, including Cambridge Capital Group. The investment will support Fuse’s ambition to make gold-standard molecular diagnostics, currently limited to use in specialist laboratories, accessible in environments where rapid testing is needed most.
Fuse is focused on delivering simple, rapid and highly accurate laboratory-quality molecular diagnostic tests for pathogens and contaminants, addressing demand for onsite testing in markets where speed, reliability and decentralised access are critical. The investment will accelerate growth of the Company’s Flip product portfolio across six strategic sectors: life sciences research, bioprocessing, food safety, water quality, veterinary diagnostics, and plant agriculture. Supporting the full commercialisation journey, the funding will enable Fuse to advance its assay development pipeline, including validation with strategic industry partners, scaling of manufacturing capabilities and expansion of commercial reach.
The Flip platform combines proprietary amplification technology with a highly innovative low cost, disposable test design to enable rapid detection of pathogens and contaminants without specialist laboratory infrastructure. The instrument-free approach is designed to support a broad pipeline of molecular diagnostic tests that deliver laboratory quality performance while reducing the complexity, equipment requirements and delays associated with centralised, specialist testing.
“This funding marks an important step in commercialising our Flip product platform and validating new assays with strategic partners across sectors where rapid, decentralised testing can make a meaningful difference,” commented Dr Harry Lamble, CEO, Fuse Diagnostics. “Built on years of scientific and engineering development, Flip is designed to give researchers faster, simpler tools for detecting pathogens and contaminants, helping to prevent disease and protect products, biological processes and the environment.”
Cheryl Weeks, Head of Funds South East & East, The FSE Group, added: “The FSE Group is excited to support the scaling of Fuse’s technology, which has been designed to address sector-specific challenges and meet demand for rapid laboratory-quality diagnostic tests across multiple industries. By combining shared technology, manufacturing and commercial infrastructure with applications beyond traditional healthcare settings, Fuse has the potential to build valuable global partnerships, delivering value and real-world impact.”

About Fuse Diagnostics
Fuse Diagnostics is focused on delivering laboratory-quality diagnostic information wherever it is needed through innovative, rapid, low-cost tests – addressing the cost and performance challenges of established approaches. The company is developing a revolutionary new generation of multianalytic diagnostic products, based on its Flip and Apex platforms, to make accurate point-of-need testing a reality for all. Fuse founders Harry and Ralph Lamble previously founded Sense Biodetection where they developed the world’s first rapid instrument-free, molecular diagnostic test (Veros COVID-19) during the pandemic. Following the acquisition of Sense by Sherlock Biosciences in 2023, the brothers decided to apply their experience of clinical product development and commercialisation to address the widespread demand for rapid onsite pathogen testing across industry.
